North Florida Trailer Buyers: Why the Drive to South Georgia Pays
The Florida line is 60-odd miles from our lot. For a lot of North Florida buyers that is a shorter trip than the nearest comparable inventory.

Jasper is about an hour and ten from Douglas. Live Oak and Lake City are inside two hours. Madison is a straight run through Valdosta. For buyers in the Suwannee Valley and along the I-10 corridor, coming up to South Georgia is often a shorter trip than getting to a comparable lot inside Florida.
What North Florida buyers are actually hauling
The work here is not very different from what we see across the line in Coffee, Atkinson and Lanier counties, which is why the same trailers suit it.
- **Timber and land clearing.** Taylor, Columbia and Baker counties are pine country, and tree crews need enclosed cargo they can lock and pull down a logging road.
- **Row crop and livestock.** Suwannee, Hamilton and Madison county operations move equipment, feed and inputs the same way South Georgia growers do.
- **Trades and contractors.** The I-75 and I-10 corridors carry a lot of small construction outfits running a trailer as a rolling job box.
- **Hunting and outdoor.** Leases across North Florida mean ATV and gear hauling from bow season onward.
What to check before you drive up
- 1**Confirm the unit is on the lot.** Call ahead with the size and spec you want. We hold 200-plus units but the exact configuration you want is worth confirming.
- 2**Know your tow rating** and your hitch class. A 7x16 tandem loaded is a different proposition from an empty 5x8.
- 3**Sort financing before you leave** if you are using it. We can do it same day, but arriving with it settled makes for a shorter visit.
- 4**Ask about a temporary tag** for the drive back over the line.
- 5**Bring your driver's licence and proof of insurance.**
Florida-specific things worth knowing
You will title and register the trailer in your own Florida county, and the tax is settled there rather than with us. Florida also has its own rules on which trailers need what — weight thresholds matter for registration class and for whether brakes are required. Check with your county tax collector before you buy so there are no surprises, particularly if you are stepping up to a heavier tandem or a gooseneck.
Humidity is the other consideration
North Florida is not kinder to a trailer than South Georgia is. Sustained humidity and long wet seasons mean that ventilation, floor sealing and undercarriage care matter more here than they do in a dry climate. If the trailer is going to sit outside year round — and most do — those are worth spending on at purchase rather than fixing later.
We cover this in more detail in our guide to humidity and trailer rust in the Southeast.
