Interior and Exterior Lighting: What Is Worth Adding
Standard interior lighting is enough to find something. It is not enough to work by, and that difference costs time every day.

Lighting is one of the cheapest upgrades on a trailer and one of the most noticed in daily use.
Interior
The default in most trailers is minimal. If you work inside — a workshop, a service build, a concession, a detailing setup — that is not adequate.
- Enough fixtures for even coverage rather than one bright spot and shadows.
- Light over the workbench specifically, where the detailed work happens.
- Colour temperature that lets you see accurately. Very warm light is poor for inspection work.
- LED, for the power draw. On a battery system that is the whole argument.
- Switching by the door you actually enter through — our side door guide covers the interaction.
Exterior
- **Scene or flood lighting** on the sides and rear, so you can load and unload in the dark. This is the single most useful exterior addition for anyone working evenings.
- **Ramp or step lighting**, which is a safety item as much as a convenience.
- **Porch light** by the side door.
- **Marker and clearance lighting** beyond the required minimum improves visibility to other traffic.
Power
Lighting is a modest load with LED, which is what makes generous lighting affordable on a battery system.
- Run it off the battery so lighting works without the generator.
- Separate switching so you are not running everything to use one light.
- Consider a low-draw courtesy light that can be left on.

Wiring at build time
This is the argument for deciding lighting when the trailer is built. Running wire through a finished wall afterward is far more work than doing it while the wall is open, and the result is neater.
Even if you are not fitting every light now, roughing in the wiring for where you might is cheap insurance.
